For some of us, springtime in Texas is the best part of the year. At Robson Ranch we want to spend more time outside, beautifying in our yards. Master Naturalist and Texas Native Plant Specialist, Carol Clark, was our May 14 speaker.

Carol talked about the importance of using native plants in our yards both because they are more drought tolerant and because they attract a variety of pollinators. In our area there are 84 different species of butterflies. Like humans, they like a variety in their diet. So just about any flower you plant is sure to attract at least one type of butterfly as well as bees and hummingbirds.
If you’re new to the area and not sure what you should plant, contact Pilot Knob Rotary for a list of local native plants and nurseries that focus on flowers for our area.  Pilot Knob Rotary meets Fridays at The Wildhorse Grill Boardroom from 11:45 to 1:00 PM.
